REVIEW: BLACK UP FULL COVERAGE CREAM FOUNDATION

Hello guys! How is it going?

I will be talking about the Black Up Full Coverage Cream Foundation I got late last year..
This is what Black Up says about the foundation

"Dark spots, scars, flaws and blemishes… This new foundation hides the most severe imperfections to create a flawless complexion without caking."

Is this true? Let's find out?

Before I start rambling, let me say I fell for the hype of this product big time. I try not to fall for product hypes, FOUNDATION most especially, because the truth is, I like my foundation to be a specific way.
But I fell hard for this one. I bought four shades at once! Normally I would buy my shade and test it out, before  buying other shades. This impulsive decision is one that  I have come to regret. Yes regret. bottom line is I do not like these babies.

True to what Black Up says, this is really full coverage..covers spots and blemishes really well It is creamy and goes on really smoothly. It is thick and has a nice consistency. sounds good eh?

Well, let me describe a scenario for you..

The first time I used this foundation I mixed it with  my Mary Kay foundation to tone down the extra warm undertone of these foundations, so i didn't really notice the 'bad side' of it. It went well. although I noticed it had extreme undertones.
The second time,  I used the shade HC 09 and 06 and it fit the clients skin like tight gloves! I said to myself  'Yep I love this foundation'
So according to usual practice, this bride danced and danced and danced and before I knew it the horror story began.. the foundation started to crack and come apart. This is a clients skin i had worked on not once or twice or three times before.  I had moisturized and used a silicon based primer for her. Setting spray and all those orisirisi.
I was convinced I did something wrong, it couldn't have been the foundation. There were two friends that were there when the caking began..and were asking me what happened that, they also use the same foundation, and they never experienced cracking like that.

Fast forward to the Engagement day, (after the bride had begged me not to use that foundation again, that I should just stick to what I used for her pre wedding shoot, lool), while we were dancing, one of the girls that said she had not experienced it before, started sweating foundation. She actually did not notice until I pointed it out. she wiped her face and she was shocked. It was really bad, that she had to clean it off! My inner goddess was screaming'thank god o! at least it isn't just me!'
Fast forward about 2 weeks, the other friend (infact it was her hype that made me buy it, yes BAMBILS I am still mad at you!) now said she just started noticing the cracks too under the sun and she wanted to change her foundation. IMAGINE!!!!!!!  una blind before?

I know the foundation is supposed to be matte, so I over moisturized the next time I used it.. same result. It is too dry for dry skin and forms patches after a while, and for oily skin, it slips off the face, once the oil mixes with sweat! Can't win!

I know this foundation works for a whole lot of people, but for me personally as a makeup artist I cannot gamble and be waiting to see if it will crack on a client's skin or not. I mean if foundation cannot hold under this our sun, and other bridal activites like DANCING, then it is almost useless for work.  I have decided to always mix it with either MaryKay foundation or my ever trusted Iman Luxury Radiance Liquid foundation. Shikena. This cost about N7000 each and lailai it can't waste.

These are the shades I picked up. Infact the story at the black up stand while I was choosing shades, and the sales person was trying to convince me about what I was seeing korokoro in front of me, is for another day!  From the swatches you can see that they are pretty warm shades.
All these brands had better copy MARYKAY in the shade department. Mary Kay has THE best shading system for black skin in my own opinion. If they could work on the oil content and the coverage, that will be the end of a long life search for liquid foundations for me.

So has anyone used this product? What did/do you think? Do I have a bad batch or what?? I would really love to hear from you
